Backbone services
The offer of backbone capacities utilises the vast STAR 21 Networks network infrastructure, which allows offering the lease of telecommunication or data circuits terminated right in the backbone STAR 21 Networks network nodes, which means without the “last mile”.
The service is intended for STAR 21 Networks partners that are other operators and Internet Service Providers. It is currently offered in dozens of attractive locations in 18 cities of the Czech Republic; an agreed Point of Interconnect (POI) is established in a suitable collocation point to connect to the partner’s network. The service is provided under the trade name of STAR 21 POP-POP.
A transmission capacity terminated in the STAR 21 Networks backbone network node is always reserved fully and permanently for each provided service. Digital circuit parameters comply with the ITU-T telecommunication standards. Ethernet interface services are always provided as symmetrical, full-duplex services with a maximum transmission rate of 100 Mbps (depending on the specific location).
The STAR 21 POP-POP service can be used especially:
- For partner’s end customer connection in the given building
- As a backbone route for the last mile (typically a radio link)
The service does not include locating the partner’s equipment on the STAR 21 Networks premises (housing) or the use of STAR 21 Networks aerial masts. However, this can be agreed in individual cases; specific conditions depend on the situation in the given location and exact specification of partner’s requirements.
