FWA security

We consider security as one of the key aspects of network operation. The technical aspects of the network of STAR 21 Networks and its internal processes enable us to meet very sophisticated security requirements, including duties prescribed by the law.

Telecommunication secret and transmitted data protection

Based on the notice of telecommunication operations submitted under Section 13, Act No. 127/2005 Coll. on electronic communication, and on the general licence issued by the Czech Telecommunication Office, STAR 21 Networks, a.s. (hereinafter as “STAR 21”) operates Fixed Wireless Access (hereinafter as "FWA") networks in the 26 and 28 GHz frequency bands on the allocated frequencies, on which public telecommunication services are provided within the territory of the Czech Republic. Confidentiality of the transmitted data is safeguarded in accordance with Section 89, Act No. 127/2005 Coll.

Securing the backbone network infrastructure

STAR 21 systematically implements controlled physical access to all network nodes. All activities performed therein are recorded by the Network Operations Center (NOC) of STAR 21. Physical access to STAR 21 network nodes is further secured by alarm sensors.

Radio access network safety

STAR 21 network operates solely within the dedicated 26/28 GHz frequency bands and uses a unique protocol based on the ATM technology. The identification and monitoring of data flows, which are statistically multiplexed in the transmission channel, could not be possible without the use of the equipment of the same manufacturer and its registration in the network control system. This administrative operation is carried out only manually at the STAR 21 control center. All attempted unauthorized access to the base stations or user terminals are automatically registered and reported to the Network Operations Center.

Subscriber terminal security

The service provided to the user by the subscriber terminal is equivalent to the service provided by a leased digital circuit. Due to the fact that this device (like all other elements of STAR 21 network) is continuously centrally controlled and monitored by the Network Operations Center, it may be said that the security of this service is higher than that of the corresponding service provided through leased terrestrial circuits.

With respect to the foregoing facts, we are convinced that the entire solution is much more secure than the corresponding solution through leased terrestrial circuits.
