STAR 21 Networks, a.s. operates its own fixed wireless access network with a guaranteed quality within the territory of the Czech Republic. This network is mainly used by other operators and Internet service providers, who use it to provide telephone, data and Internet services to firms and organisations. STAR 21 Networks customers include all leading fixed network operators on the Czech market.

STAR 21 Networks infrastructure is based on the largest and the fastest developing Fixed Wireless Access network (FWA) in the 26 and 28 GHz frequency bands in the Czech Republic. In the FWA 26/28 GHz segment, STAR 21 Networks is currently the number one on the Czech market – as the only independent wholesale FWA-based service provider, with the vastest network and the most dynamically growing number of connections.

Connection through the FWA networks in the 26 and 28 GHz frequency bands is a standard part of all major telecommunication operators and Internet service providers’ portfolio today.

History

STAR 21 Networks was established in 2000, when it was granted one of three national licenses for FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) network operation in the 26 GHz frequency band in the Czech Republic. In 2001, the company started to provide its services to other operators and soon became an important alternative on the last-mile wholesale market.

In the following years, STAR 21 Networks contributed to a real last-mile market recovery in the professional services segment, where a strongly competitive environment developed. This resulted in a falling price for access capacity (about 50% over 4 years), a higher availability of services to the customers and their gradual passage to broadband services.

Since 2004, STAR 21 Networks has also had the allocated 28 GHz bandwidth within the territory of Prague at its disposal, which permits to further develop the firm’s services in the strongest-demand area.

Present

STAR 21 Networks is currently a profitable telecommunication company, systematically reinvesting in the network development, use of most advanced wireless technologies and service innovations. In the 26 and 28 GHz last-mile service segment, it is the largest and the only purely wholesale access service provider in the CR.

That is one of the reasons why STAR 21 Networks is a trustworthy business partner for all key national and international telecommunication operators and ISPs on the Czech market, to whom it offers transparent business rules, long-term cooperation, a high quality of services provided, and competitive prices.

Future

STAR 21 Networks will also remain a wholesale operator in future. Apart from its own network, the company currently also integrates the services of certified suppliers – national, regional and municipal providers (metropolitan area networks for instance). Due to that it is a suitable partner providing solutions to large WAN or VPN customers’ networks.

Further development of cooperation with alternative operators and ISPs will also be facilitated by new business models that will help the partners get new customers from regions in the first place. Experience and the technological background enable STAR 21 Networks to provide special services tailored to specific requirements of the business partners.

Apart from the telecommunication services, STAR 21 Networks has become a supplier of radio technologies in 2007; to support the sales, a new specialised portal www.wirelessbroadband.cz has been launched in 2010.
